FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Here are a few questions that we get a lot. If you have a question that isn’t listed below, feel free to reach out via our contact page!

HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT'S PLAYING?

You're in the right place! Our website has the most up-to-date movie and live show listings found by clicking our navigation bar above. You can also call our theatre at any time for a pre-recorded schedule of events at 207-288-0829. Follow us on Facebook and join our e-mail list for reminders and special deals.

SHOULD I SIT IN THE BALCONY OR FLOOR LEVEL?

We get this question a LOT! The best answer is, it depends on how you’d like to enjoy the show. The balcony (Loge box) is beautiful, and you get to enjoy the view of our amazing theatre, you’re closer to the bar, and there are also bathrooms on the upper level as well, so no need to have to go downstairs. The floor level seats are obviously closer to the “action” so if you would like a more intimate experience, the floor might be a better spot for you. At the end of the day, it’s totally your choice, and we know that no matter where you sit, you’ll LOVE The Criterion.

IS THE BALCONY WHEELCHAIR ACCESSABLE?

YES! We want to be sure that everyone has access to our beautiful Loge boxes located in the balcony. If you need any assistance at all, our staff is always available to help in any way.

IS THE THEATER HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE?

Yes! Both the balcony and orchestra sections are accessible by wheelchair and mobility device, with dedicated seating as outlined by the ADA. ADA seating is limited, so it is recommended you call ahead to confirm that it has not already been reserved. For movies we also have listening assist hardware and handheld closed caption devices, available upon request.

WHERE CAN I BUY TICKETS?

Tickets are available online for most movies and live shows. Tickets are also available at our ticket booth, which opens one hour before showtime.  Still not finding the tickets you are looking for? Call us at (207)288-0829.

HOW MUCH DO MOVIE TICKETS COST?

Balcony tickets are $9 (flat rate for all ages)
Orchestra tickets are $8 for adults,
and $6 for students, seniors, and military personnel.

Keep in mind that the balcony is further away from the screen but has semi-private loge sections. It is also closer to the food, beer and wine service. Food, beer and wine is available throughout the entire theatre, however. No discount tickets are available for the Balcony, and group seating isn't guaranteed.

CAN I GET A REFUND?

We offer refunds upon request EXCLUDING: within 48 hours before the show in question (exceptions for medical emergency), for special promotional tickets (such as VIP Packages, and tickets to rental events (pending approval from renter). Fees equal to $3 x # of refunded tickets will be retained to cover processing costs.

DO YOU SERVE FOOD?

Our concession stand has a wide array of movie-going staples including Maine popcorn with real butter and a selection of soft drinks, juices, ice teas and coffees. Upstairs is our bar with beer & wine.  Food and drink can be consumed anywhere in the theatre but please no outside food.
