In the new holiday comedy, HOLLY STAR, a young woman who barely makes a living as a puppeteer returns to Maine for the holiday only to get caught up in a mysterious treasure hunt involving her paintball-obsessed best friend, her tango-dancing grandmother and a childhood crush.
Written and Directed by Saco resident Michael A. Nickles during one of the coldest winters on record, Holly Star was shot entirely in the Saco-Biddeford area, using recognizable and beloved landmarks as locations. The film stars Katlyn Carlson (Broadway-bound musical Be More Chill), Brian Muller (The Deuce, The Good Wife), Teya Patt (Fear The Walking Dead, Weeds), along with a bevy of very talented local actors, crew and extras. (PG | 1hr 31min)
In attendance at the Friday screening for Q&A following the film will be producer S.C.V. Taylor of Brunswick. Holly Star is Taylor's 3rd Maine feature film. His previous productions are “The Witch Files” (2018) and “Night of the Living Deb” (2015).
