Americana folk ensemble the Blake Rosso Band will take the 1932 Criterion Theatre stage for an album release concert featuring Djar Djar and opening act Gus LaCasse.
Powerful vocals, clear-eyed storytelling, engaging rhythms and fiery leads on the fiddle and mandolin give The Blake Rosso Band an unmistakable sound that is sure to get your feet moving. From the band: "Our goal, every night we play, is to make an intimate connection with each other on stage that spills over to our audience and creates an environment of collective healing, through sound and movement.”
Djar Djar, emerging out of the fertile garage scene of Ledgelawn Avenue, is a rock n’ roll quartet consisting of MDI natives, having performed throughout New England including the prestigious MAMM Slam out of Portland, Maine. After a hiatus in the name of higher education Djar Djar has announced their long-awaited reunion.
Gus La Casse, described as a folk fiddler with both speed and savage energy, has a repertoire that reflects his innovative spirit and dedication to the Cape Breton and Acadian fiddle traditions, playing both standards of the genre and his original material.
